Master's theses

All members of the Sustainability Research Group can supervise master's theses; the supervision of master's theses within the Master program Sustainable Development (MSD) has priority. 

Prof. Janina Grabs is available to supervise Master's theses on topics related to: Sustainability of agri-food systems, value chains, and smallholder farming systems (especially in the Global South); global value chain governance and sustainability; as well as public and private sustainability governance on the transnational, national, and local levels.

Dr. Annika Sohre is available to supervise Master's theses on topics related to sustainability transitions and its governance, especially in the energy and mobility sector, including societal transformations and policies, individual behavior change, bottom-up transitions, justice/democracy as well as living lab and future-oriented research.

Dr. Antonia Kaiser is happy to hear from Master's students who would like to write their thesis on topics related to: social practices, especially in food and agriculture; alternative food networks; socio-technical transitions in the agri-food sector as well as public/media discourses on agri-food issues. 

Dr. Charline Depoorter is available to supervise thesis topics related to sustainable (agricultural) global value chains governance, transnational (private) governance, trade policy and sustainable development, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Dr. Iljana Schubert is happy to supervise Master’s theses in relation to understanding energy consumption behaviour and its change for diverse topics and on different levels (individual, household, group/social networks but also societal trends), especially regarding energy communities, Positive Energy Districts, superblocks, Transition Towns or districts that are transitioning.

Dr. Adam X. Hearn is available to supervise Master’s theses in relation to Positive Energy Districts, Energy Justice, Energy Poverty and Renewable Energy Communities.
