Lucia Casalegno is a PhD candidate in the Sustainability Research Group at the University of Basel. There, she investigates the implementation of sustainable supply chains due diligence legislations (such as the EU Deforestation Regulation or the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive) in the EXPECT-AGRI project led by Prof. Grabs. Her current research focuses on sustainability and governance within agricultural supply chains, with a particular interest in the commodities of cocoa, coffee and palm oil in Colombia.

Before joining the Sustainability Research Group, Lucia Casalegno completed her Master’s degree in Sustainable Resource Management at the Technical University of Munich, Germany. She specialized in sustainable agricultural supply chains and sustainable entrepreneurship, with a Master's thesis on rural entrepreneurship and collective approaches in Peru. Moreover, she has experience at the University of Turin, the GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) and the start-up environment of Munich.
