Welcome to the website of the Sustainability Research Group at the University of Basel
The Sustainability Research Group conducts research, teaching, and outreach on topics of sustainable development, sustainability governance, and transformations toward more sustainable socio-economic systems. In our research, we place a special focus on understanding transition processes, best approaches and (possible) outcomes of sustainability governance in the agri-food, energy and mobility sectors, as well as questions of justice, equity, and inclusivity in sustainability transformations. We mainly teach in the Master’s Degree in Sustainable Development (MSD), the Master’s Degree in Changing Societies (MCS), and the Pathways to Sustainability certificate program.
The Sustainability Research Group belongs to the Department of Social Sciences which is part of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
