New Publication: The Role of Religion in Climate Action and Sustainable Development

Published in Global Religion and the Climate Crisis: International Perspectives on the Relation of Religion and Nature from Practical Theology and Religious Studies (De Gruyter, 2026), this chapter investigates how religious organizations in Switzerland are contributing to climate change mitigation and sustainable development. Drawing on empirical research, the authors analyze the unique role of faith communities in shaping environmental values, influencing policy, and implementing practical solutions, from renewable energy adoption to sustainable resource use.The chapter also addresses the barriers and conflicts that can hinder progress, offering insights for policymakers, religious leaders, and sustainability practitioners.
